RETAIL ASSISTANT – TEMPORARY CHRISTMAS POSITIONS

THE JOB:

Our retail assistants are the core of our business and play a vital role in the success of our stores. You will be working on the sales floor carrying out various tasks such as till replenishment, clearing stock and processing deliveries. You will be working directly with the most important people in our business, our customers.

 

HOURS OF WORK:

Positions available from 4 – 20 Hours per week.

Weekday and Weekend positions available.

As a Mothercare Specialist, it is you who will guide our customers through the world of parenting – in many cases for the very first time!

We are looking for a Specialist to join the team in our new York store on a full time (40 hour) contract.

You will be responsible for giving our customers an excellent experienceand maximising sales by, effectively selling products within the store and online that meet our customer needs.

You will become a specialist in up to six departments across the store and will use your expertise to train and coach the team to enable them to provide expert advice.You will also conduct expectant and new parent events and personal shops in a friendly and confident manner.

This is an exciting and varied role and we are looking for outgoing, confident and friendly people with a passion for retail to join us.

Our Mothercare specialists will need to have the following skills:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to listen and question
  • A people person, able to build relationships with people quickly, both colleagues and customers.
  • Experience in demonstrating products to customers
  • Flexibility to support the business
  • The ability to work within a team
  • Able to work efficiently in a pressurised environment

To enable you to be successful as a Mothercare specialist we will put you through an extensive training programme to give you the brilliant product knowledge and understanding of our products that’s needed to succeed in the role.

Previous experience in a nursery setting, in child development or previous experience working within a similar retailer or in a coaching role would be preferred.

The hourly rate for this specialist role starts at 8/ hour, increasing to 9.10/ hour after successful completion of the training blocks (after approx. 12 weeks).

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Customer

  • Lead team to provide customer service including effective resolution of all queries and complaints to achieve the customer service targets
  • Coach their team to tailor service to individual customer needs
  • Drive store sales conversion on the shop floor and lead achievement of sales results
  • Delivery of operational excellence to achieve store standards
  • Drive and lead by example a service lead culture across the whole store

Commercial Focus

  • Manage their team to deliver the commercial targets and work with Store Manager to convert plans into sales
  • Deliver clear communication to ensure tasks are completed effectively
  • Understand and deliver requirements relating to legal and operational compliance
  • Support management team to communicate and re-enforce business strategy
  • Ensure that the store / department is set up for trade before and after business
  • Ensure that all visual merchandising plans are correct and a plan is both in place and effectively implemented for seasonal changes

  • Manage the control of the sales floor whilst on duty

People

  • Ensure that Customer Service Advisors understand their role and responsibilities; providing coaching and in-store training to develop positive behaviours, skills and specialism
  • Role model positive behaviours to help build a cohesive team
  • Conduct -1-2-1s to ensure regular and ongoing dialogue
  • Setting stretch targets for my team cascaded from overall targets
  • Support the delivery of effective induction and development programs for all colleagues
  • Act on colleague feedback working closely with the leadership team
